What is AquaUnity?
AquaUnity is a culturally tailored water safety program designed for adults born overseas. It provides essential education, practical skills, and in-water learning to help participants feel safe and confident around Queensland’s pools, beaches, and waterways.
How is training delivered?
Training is delivered through targeted modules including online learning, face-to-face workshops, and practical scenario-based sessions. These modules cover key themes like cultural competency, inclusive communication, supervision, risk identification, and emergency response.
What benefits will my facility see from teacher upskilling?
When teachers are up-skilled in lifesaving principles, supervision awareness and emergency response they can identify risks early and act effectively. This strengthens overall safety standards at your facility and contributes to broader water-safety goals.
What support is available if I have questions during or after the training?
We provide ongoing support, including access to course materials, trainer follow-up, peer networking opportunities and resources to help you implement what you’ve learned in your teaching practice.
How will the training help me adapt lessons for diverse participants?
Our modules on cultural competency and inclusive communication equip you to understand and respond to the needs of participants from different cultural and linguistic backgrounds. This builds safer, more welcoming environments and reduces barriers to participation.
Who can participate?
Our programs are designed for swim teachers of all levels, working with people of all ages and backgrounds, including those instructing multicultural communities, adults, children, and people with diverse linguistic needs.
Why should i invest in ongoing professional development through AquaUnity?
By investing in professional development you demonstrate initiative, leadership and a commitment to quality, attributes valued by employers and accrediting bodies. You also build stronger skills to create inclusive, safe aquatic environments and support water-safety education in your community.
How do I know the training meets accrediting body standards?
Our programs are designed to align with best-practice teaching methods and industry standards. We can provide details about how each module aligns with accrediting bodies and employer expectations.
Are there any prerequisites or experience needed to enrol?
Prerequisites vary by module. Some training may require current certification in swim teaching or lifeguarding, while introductory modules may be open to newer instructors. We’ll provide clear guidance for each course.
